ABOUT US

One to one movement workshop, Cambridge Junction

What is Akasha?

In Sanskrit, Akasha means ‘space’, the very first element in creation.

Akasha Dance Theatre was born from a deep love of creation.

WHAT WE DO

Akasha Dance Theatre is a UK-based dance theatre organisation, offering bold, dynamic, unique dance and physical theatre work.

We are inspired by an unwavering calling and passion and for creativity and expression.

OUR FOCUS

Our main focus is creating and producing dance and physical theatre for film and live performance, as well as offering movement and theatre skills workshops for beginner, intermediate and professional level dancers, as well as providing 1-2-1 guidance for dancers at all stages of their artistic journeys.

We provide nurturing spaces for all dancers and theatre makers. We’re passionate about giving dancers the spaces and tools to explore their artistry, whilst creating exciting repertoire which captivates, excites and moves audiences.

RECENT FILM WORK

In 2022/23, Akasha Dance Theatre began their most recent project, Exoskeleton, funded by Arts Council England. Exoskeleton is a feature length dance and physical theatre film, inspired by our director’s own experience of acute neurological illness and neurorehabilitation. Tickets can be booked on our NEW EVENTS/WORKSHOPS page.

CURRENT WORKSHOPS

We’re running a new online workshop, Movement & Poetry, on Monday evenings from 9-10PM GMT.

Movement & Poetry is a great way of playing with your innate physical knowledge and exploring your poetry writing skills in an intimate and warm environment. Open to adults of all physical abilities and writing experience.

You can book your space on our NEW EVENTS/WORKSHOPS page.

We look forward to moving with you.

Warm wishes,

Chloe, Akasha Dance Theatre director
